Using free motion machining and several different fabrics we shall create a rich piece of fabric that might be made into a purse, a bag or a panel.
We shall work with simple patterns from your machine even if you only have zig-zag. Once having created the fabric we shall decorate it with various free motion patterns of your making.
You will need to bring:
1/2 metre of calico for a backing
30cm – fat quarter size each of several different pieces of cotton fabrics – some plain, some patterned. Bring a minimum of three and no more than five different ones, that tone and/or contrast with each other. You must like the colours together.
Machine threads that tone and/or contrast with the fabrics
An embroidery frame – 8in diameter is suitable
Usual sewing kit including pins, sharp scissors
Sewing machine that allows you to lower the feed dogs, instruction book, all accessories, foot pedal, lead, embroidery/darning foot, spare bobbins
Notebook and pen/pencil
